Habsburg Castle, Hand Colored Engraving (1842)

Check out that view! This antique piece of history features Habsburg Castle, a medieval fortress in Habsburg, Switzerland atop a hill in the 1800s. This hand-colored engraving was done by Migliavacca in Florence, Italy over a century and a half ago. This beautifully detailed piece is pulled from the pages of Giulio Ferrario's Costume Antico e Moderno (Outfits of the Ages and Modern Day). Dr Ferrario made it his life's work to compete and document clothing, customs and culture from around the globe and across the ages. His fascinating depictions allow us a rare peak at age-old architecture worldwide. Published in Florence, Italy in 1842. Over a century and a half ago!
