El Zorro Negro

Rare! This Argentinian beauty has a fascinating story. This poster is actually for a 1940 cowboy western called "Ridin' the Trail", written by Bernard B. Ray. But upon release in Argentina, the distributor correctly realized that the movie would have far more appeal as a "Zorro" movie, even though it had no Zorro character in it, and so it was deceptively re-titled "The Black Zorro"! The movie starred Fred Scott (billed as "The Two Gun Troubador"), Iris Lancaster, Harry Harvey, Jack Ingram, and John Ward. What a fantastic piece of cinema history.

Condition: Very Good. Conservation mounted on linen. Minor paper loss near the "El", and also at the cross folds, which have been restored. Other small pinholes, tears, and slight paper loss around the edges have also been restored. The poster is bright and vivid and shows very well.

Year: c.1940 - 84 years old

Size: 29.0" x 43.0" (74cm x 109cm)
