This Perestroika era poster celebrates the 80th Birthday of Russian poet Aleksandr Tvardovsky (1910-1971), and his most famous work, "A Book About a Soldier". This poem about an ordinary soldier in the German-Soviet War was both humorous and optimistic, recounting the resourcefulness of the Russian soldier. It was, perhaps uncharacteristic for the time, non-politicized and without typical heroic propaganda. The poster designer was Artist E. Vertogradov.
