Batavia. Jakarta City, Indonesia- Antique Map

What a gorgeous antique map from 1895 of Jakarta City (formally known as Batavia) in Indonesia! Batavia was the capital city of the Dutch East Indies, which was a colonial state established by the Dutch in the 17th century that encompassed parts of present-day Indonesia, including Java, Sumatra, and other islands.

Batavia was an important trading and administrative center for the Dutch East Indies, and the city had a significant European presence, with Dutch, Portuguese, and British communities. Needless to say it remains an integral part of the country in modern day.

This fantastic map was salvaged from the pages of a German Lexicon and was printed by Bibliographisches Institut in Leipzig, Germany in 1895. It will frame expertly.
