Baseball Player- The Saturday Evening Post

'The Saturday Evening Post' is a magazine that was first published in the United States in 1821. It was initially a weekly newspaper that focused on news and politics, but over time it evolved into a general-interest magazine that featured a mix of news, commentary, fiction, and humor.

The magazine's heyday was around the mid-20th century, when it became known for its iconic cover art and influence on shaping shaping American culture. This fantastic illustration of a baseball player passionatley swinging his bat was designed for the May 28, 1932 edition of the publication by celebrated American illustrator J.F. Kernan.

J.F. Kernan was an artist and illustrator who was best known for his illustrations of everyday life in America, especially in the urban environments of New York City and Chicago. Today, Kernan's brilliant cover illustrations are considered important examples of American publishing art and are highly respected for their token blend of emotion and realism. This beautiful vintage piece is signed in plate by Kernan on the right hand side.
