France is renowned for priding itself on its rich culture and treasure trove of a historical repertoire; all of which continue to rank it as a top tourist destination since the inception of railway travel in the early 19th century.

The French Railway System (SNCF) was founded in 1928 during an era where cars were becoming more popular than trains.
