Le Gyroscope Humain

A gyroscope is a spinning disc where the axis is free to assume any orientation within its gravitational pull. "Le Gyroscope Humain" was French inventor Menn-Ret's creation to get a proper birds eye view of the public in 1895.

In this authentic century-old stone lithograph we see a magnificent monsieur galivanting on his gyroscope. Below him we catch wonderous facets of faces as the public peers on in awe at his beck and call. The details on the town folk are exceptional, each ensemble breathes life all its own. Everything from the color choices, the clothing and the mood of the foreground have been masterfully crafted. If you look closely, there's no doubt you'll get lost in the wave of wanderers, too. Artwork by Faria.
