Two Jazz-Age African figures carry what looks like very heavy cargo and they smile as they labor. Both wear blue coveralls and slippers. The child in front wears an actual stovepipe as a hat which is a reference to the product. The other figure, perhaps the mother, wears a shiny stove-pipe hat and large hoop earrings. This poster is a perfect reminder that nothing hides from ephemera; the cultural attitudes, norms, and stereotypes of the day are reflected in graphic form. A wonderful poster and piece of history. Artwork by Georges Favre.
