Rare! "Remember Prohibition? Don't let it happen again!" One of a series of posters created by Calvert Distillers to warn the public of the dangers of prohibition, and how the taxes on liquor help pay for the war effort. Prohibition in the United States was a nationwide constitutional ban on booze from 1920 to 1933. Even after it was repealed, public support for Prohibition was strong in some areas. Not long after World War II, a national opinion survey found that over 30% of the people of the United States favored national prohibition. Calvert Distillers was founded in 1934 and produced products such as Calvert's Blended Whiskey. This original poster from the 1940s represents a fascinating piece of history and displays brilliant artwork of several North American B-25 Mitchell bombers.
