This fabulous 1949 magazine cover was designed by celebrated Russian-American illustrator Constantin Alajalov.

Alajalov quickly established himself as a talented illustrator, and began contributing to The New Yorker in the late 1920s. His artwork was characterized by its clean lines, bright colors, and sense of humor, and often featured scenes of everyday life in New York City. Alajalov was especially noted for his depictions of sophisticated urbanites engaged in witty banter and social satire. Needless to say, Alajalov's impact on the artistic community continues to thrive in modern day. Signed in plate.

If we know one thing for certain, it's that at only 20 cents a copy, The New Yorker's famed cover illustrations are simply dripping in vintage decorum. This fantastic cover art will frame expertly. *Please note that this listing is for the cover artwork, and not the magazine as a whole.
