Belle Epoque

Belle Époque refers to the decades around 1880–1910, when Paris became the center of a new kind of commercial art. Lithography had matured to the point where a printer could reproduce rich color across large sheets, and artists like Jules Chéret and Alphonse Mucha used that capability to turn advertising into something people wanted to look at. The pieces shown here are period originals from that moment.
