Fashion & Glamour

Fashion has been one of the most consistently illustrated subjects in commercial print, from the hand-colored costume plates of the 19th century to the bold graphic covers of mid-20th century magazines. The work was driven by a simple commercial need: clothing and style had to be shown, not described.
