Hungary punched well above its weight in 20th-century graphic design, largely because Budapest developed a serious commercial art scene in the early 1900s that trained designers who went on to shape visual culture across Europe and America. The country's poster tradition drew on Secessionist influences from Vienna while developing a bolder, more illustrative character of its own. The pieces shown here are period originals from that lineage.
