The Alberto Vargas Collection

Alberto Vargas was a Peruvian-American illustrator whose airbrushed pin-up paintings became some of the most recognized commercial art of the 20th century. He spent years producing work for Esquire, where his figures appeared under the name "Varga," and later for Playboy, refining a technique so smooth it barely looked like brushwork at all. His originals regularly sell at auction for tens of thousands of dollars. The period pieces shown here come from that same tradition.
