Spring Fashions- Delineator Magazine

The 1830s saw the rise of mass circulation magazines in America. Promoting greater consumption, these publications became popular as means to share everything from literature, philosophy, to sports and the current state of international affairs. Not to mention, they were a newfound opportunity for advertisers to capitalize on a novelty medium-- resulting in a new and attractive stream of revenue that would only encourage many others to soon develop publications of their own.

"Delineator" was a highly-popular women's magazine that launched in 1869 and ran until its final issue in 1937. Previously named "The Metropolitan Monthly", this highly-sought after magazine featured everything from fashion, food recipes, to wonderful short stories written by all female authors. Not to mention, it was also renowned for its captivating and delicate illustrations of fashionable women through its prominent 68 years of publication. 68 years of print runs.

This fantastic cover artwork was designed for the 1934 March release and advertises a new novel by Alice Grant Rosman alongside the newest in Spring fashions.
