Wissembourg, Gorilla

Love it! A gorilla with a top hat... why not?? This magnificent stone lithograph was printed by the C. Burckardt printing company in Weissenburg, France during the 1880s. This is part of a series of carnival panels featuring whimsical images of animals, random Alsatian characters, and comical caricatures all designed in a stunning Art Nouveau style. Stamped No. 204. Condition: Very Good. This poster consists of two sheets joined together, and is conservation mounted on linen. There is some light fading on previous fold lines.
