La Grande Scrofa Nera

"La Grande Scrofa Nera"( "The Big Black Sow" in English) was a 1971 Italian melodrama directed by Filippo Ottoni.

Chaos ensues when the patriarch of the Mazzara family, Enrico, is filled with vengeance after finding out his wife is having an affair. Determined to bring an end to all that is dear to her, Enrico succumbs to delusion when he convinces himself that each of his family members are actually big, black pigs awaiting slaughter. As Enrico sets out to embark on a rampage, there is no telling what this father of 5 will do to destroy his family next.

Featured here is a fabulous graphic designed by famed Polish illustrator Jerzy Flisak for the 1974 first-release of this film in Poland. With Flisak renowned for his primitive detailing and effortless ease of pen, it comes as no surprise that this magnificent piece is among his very classics. With a stark burgundy foreground framing the attitude of anger, we see a discombobulated man sinking into the sow he so ruthlessly seeks to slaughter. A seamless illustration of emboldened emotion by Flisak.

The perfect addition for the vintage film lover in your life.
