Obsession (Opetanie)

Directed by French director Jan Delannoy, "Obsession" is a crime melodrama first released in France in the Spring of 1954.

Following the story of two married circus performers and their colleagues untimely death, "Obsession" takes us on a whirlwind journey when trapeze performer Michele Morgan believes her husband is guilty of the crime, although an innocent man has already been convicted.

Designed by Maciej Hibner for the first release of the film in Poland in the Fall of 1961, this darkly inspiring poster art boasts a chilling attitude all its own. Known for his strong geometry and folk-art inspired palettes, this novelty design by casts a striking shadow unlike anything we've seen before. An intoxicating stray from the original and more muted French design, comes the harrowing allure of this illustrative gem.

With a glaring clown wielding a pistol, there's no telling where this foreboding tale will lead to next. Strong shades of red set the stage for this bone-chilling work of cinematography. Who will come out alive? Peer into this jesters haunting eyes and find out for yourself... (But be careful, you may be his next victim.)
