Austria punched well above its weight in graphic design during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Vienna in particular became a center of the Secession movement, where artists rejected academic convention in favor of bold geometry, flat color, and lettering treated as visual form. That sensibility carried directly into commercial work, shaping how Austrian designers approached everything from exhibition announcements to travel campaigns.
