The Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood was one of the two venues that defined the psychedelic concert poster movement of the late 1960s. Family Dog Productions promoted shows there weekly, commissioning artists like Victor Moscoso and Wes Wilson to produce handbills and posters that pushed legibility to its limit, wrapping band names in vibrating color and sinuous lettering. The period originals from those years are among the most recognizable works in American graphic design.
