Belgium punches well above its size in the history of graphic design. In the late 19th century it was a center of Art Nouveau, with Henri van de Velde among those pushing the movement beyond decoration into a coherent visual philosophy. That energy carried into 20th-century commercial work, where Belgian designers brought the same formal ambition to travel, industry, and cultural promotion.
