Bullfighting generated some of the most charged commercial imagery of the 20th century, particularly in Spain and Mexico, where the corrida was both a mass spectacle and a subject serious artists took seriously. Picasso drew from it throughout his career, and the poster tradition that grew around it combined bold flat color with a drama that suited lithography well.
