Denmark punched well above its weight in 20th-century graphic design, partly because its applied arts tradition never drew a sharp line between fine art and commercial work. That attitude produced designers who brought the same rigor to a travel poster or product label as to a gallery piece. Scandinavian modernism gave the work its clean geometry and restrained palette, while a strong printing industry kept quality high across formats. The pieces shown here are period originals from that tradition.
