Motorcycles entered commercial illustration almost as soon as they entered the road, promoted through racing posters, manufacturer advertisements, and magazine spreads that treated speed as a visual problem worth solving. The best work from the early and mid-20th century captured something the photography of the era rarely could: the feeling of motion rather than just its evidence.
