The Netherlands has a distinct place in the history of printed imagery, partly because Dutch and Flemish printmakers were among the first to treat engraving and etching as commercial trades worth perfecting. That tradition carried into the 20th century, where Dutch designers brought a spare, geometry-minded sensibility to travel, industry, and cultural campaigns.
