1984- Australian Daybill

This is a spectacular Australian daybill from 1956 promoting the world-renowned and notorious story of "1984", based on the original novel written by George Orwell.

Directed by Michael Anderson, this iconic film centers around the story of a totalitarian future society where "Big Brother" and the "Thought Police" are ever-present.

Want 2 fun facts? Firstly, Orwell wrote this book in 1948 and titled it "1984" as a nod to the futures potential trajectory. Secondly, similar to the early adaption of "Animal Farm" this film was secretly funded by the CIA to serve as a message to "all countries threatened by communism". How fascinating!

This fantastic piece of film history will frame expertly.
