Messageries Maritimes (1949)

1 left

From the ashes of World War II, a new hope was born in France. The ship 'La Marseillaise' was symbolic not only for the country, but also Messageries Maritimes (MM) as their flagship vessel.

On August 18th 1949, MM’s first “wonder-ship” left port in Toulon before embarking on its first maiden voyage from Marseille, France to Yokohama, Japan just one month after its construction was completed. This was later preceded by two Mediterranean cruises. Each voyage was a success. La Marseillaise served as an powerful emblem of France's noteworthy post-war rebirth.
