The 1830s saw the rise of mass circulation magazines in America. Promoting greater consumption, these publications became popular as means to share everything from literature, philosophy, to sports and the current state of international affairs. Not to mention, they were a newfound opportunity for advertisers to capitalize on a novelty medium-- resulting in a new and attractive stream of revenue that would only encourage many others to soon develop publications of their own.

'The Household Magazine' was a Texan lifestyle journal and was published from the 1920s onward. Featuring everything from home decor, and short stories to self help, 'The Household Magazine' soared in popularity among local Texans in the early 20th century. This fabulous cover art of three joyous children riding a rocking horse was designed for the December 1935 issue of the publication. We are especially loving these fine details and pops of color! Gorgeous composition by American illustrator Elisabeth Orton Jones.

If one thing is for certain, it is that this timeless magazine cover will frame beautifully.
