With an exciting history dating back to the late 1800s, it is no wonder vintage Spanish crate labels are so incredibly collectible today!

Crate labels are commercial labels that were intricately designed and lithographed before being pasted on the ends of wooden shipping boxes. In order to attract more attention on crowded shelves, manufacturers began commissioning artists to create lively and one-of-a-kind illustrations representative of both the product, shipping origin and era in the early 1900s. Meaning, each shipping crate had the luxury of sporting a myriad of unique designs. How fascinating!

Wow! What a phenomenal graphic. "El Realengo" is a suburb in Alicante, Spain, that according to this crate label - has the best oranges in town! We're sure this fantastic fish with his darling chef hat and serving tray would have to agree. Printed by Carcagente Inc. in Valencia, Spain.
