With an exciting history dating back to the late 1800s, it is no wonder vintage Spanish crate labels are so incredibly collectible today!

Crate labels are commercial labels that were intricately designed and lithographed before being pasted on the ends of wooden shipping boxes. In order to attract more attention on crowded shelves, manufacturers began commissioning artists to create lively and one-of-a-kind illustrations representative of both the product, shipping origin and era in the early 1900s. Meaning, each shipping crate had the luxury of sporting a myriad of unique designs. How fascinating!

What a regal sight! In this fantastic graphic for De Parel Oranges we see a magnificent madam lifting an arm as her palm is adorned with a radiant handful of marigold deliciousness. She appears to be flying high on her magic carpet across the tree-tops that bear her favorite fruit. Each color choice and fine detail on this vintage classic are exceptional. A lovely piece of Spanish history ready to dress up any wall. Printed for VDA. R. Marshal for Manuel Distributing Co., in Valencia, Spain.
