Born in Augsburg, Germany, Martin Engelbrecht was a celebrated Baroque engraver and publisher in the late 17th and 18th century. Known for his expertly detailed and hand-colored depictions of historical fashion, daily life, and famed landmarks, it is no wonder his prolific illustrations have surpassed centuries of tribulation.

In 1735 Engelbrecht created an incredible limited series of performers. Illustrated here is a 287-year old tight-rope walker strutting her stuff as townsmen peer up at her otherworldly abilities in awe. Upon second glance, is she jumping? Wow, now that is talent!

Adorned in typical renaissance fashion, it goes without saying that this hand-colored engraving is simply dripping in immaculate detailing. The colors are bright and bold, and the impressively crafted artwork will last for years to come.

The perfect addition for the performer or renaissance lover in your life.
