This remarkable technical cutaway illustration captures the Lola T260, the L&M sponsored Can Am racer built for the 1971 season and driven by three time Formula 1 World Champion Jackie Stewart. Created by Swiss artist Werner Bührer, Road & Track magazine’s signature cutaway illustrator from the late 1960s through the 1980s, the piece combines mechanical precision with the drama of unlimited sports car racing. Can Am was one of the most extreme series in motorsport history, allowing teams enormous freedom in engine size, aerodynamics, and engineering development.
The Lola T260 was designed to challenge the dominant McLaren cars of the era, which had largely controlled Can Am competition. Powered by a massive Chevrolet V8 producing over 700 horsepower, the car reflected the wild ambition of the series, where speed and experimentation often pushed far beyond conventional racing limits. Bührer’s cutaway reveals the machine from the inside out, including its suspension geometry, fuel tank placement, aerodynamic bodywork, and densely packed mechanical systems. His hand lettered annotations add to the technical character of the image, showing the illustrator’s ability to translate engineering into art.
The bold L&M livery also places the poster firmly within the early 1970s, when tobacco sponsorship played a major role in international motorsport before later advertising restrictions changed the visual landscape of racing. Although the T260 struggled against McLaren’s overwhelming dominance in 1971, its connection to Jackie Stewart, Lola engineering, and the golden age of Can Am gives it lasting significance. As a Road & Track cutaway, this piece stands as both automotive documentation and collectible design, prized for its technical detail, racing history, and graphic impact.

Quite simply, if you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, simply contact us within 14 days of receipt and we'll gladly accept your return, providing the item is in the same condition as it was sent.
Returns
Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. It must also be sent in the original packaging.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable). Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error. Any item that is returned more than 14 days after delivery may also be ineligible.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. Your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within two business days. Original shipping costs are not refundable.
