Puck was America's first successful humor magazine, founded in 1871 and running through 1918. It built its reputation on full-color lithographed cartoons, many of them sharp political satire at a time when illustration was the fastest way to land a joke before a mass audience. Artists like Joseph Keppler shaped its visual identity, and the chromolithography Puck pioneered was technically ambitious for its era. The pieces shown here are period originals.
