Switzerland punched well above its weight in 20th-century graphic design, producing a style so influential it eventually became known simply as the International Typographic Style. Centered in Zurich and Basel from the 1950s onward, Swiss designers built a visual language around the grid, sans-serif type, and disciplined use of photography that shaped everything from corporate identity to public transit campaigns.
