Bonnie MacLean came up in the San Francisco rock scene of the late 1960s, creating concert promotion work for promoter Bill Graham at a moment when psychedelic lettering and hallucinogenic color were redefining what a poster could do. Her work from that period holds its own alongside better-known names from the same scene, with a draftsmanship that kept her compositions legible even at their most ornate.
