Lawson Wood was an English illustrator whose career stretched from Edwardian children's books through the golden age of American magazine covers. He is best known for his anthropomorphic animals, particularly a recurring chimpanzee named Gran'pop, rendered with a warmth and comic timing that made his work immediately recognizable on newsstands.
