The Victor Moscoso Collection

Victor Moscoso arrived in San Francisco in the mid-1960s with something most of his peers lacked: formal academic training. That background shaped his approach to the psychedelic poster movement in distinct ways. Where others worked intuitively, Moscoso pushed color theory to its limits, pairing vibrating complementary hues that made his lettering nearly impossible to read and completely impossible to ignore. He was also the first in that scene to incorporate photographic collage. The period originals here come from that foundational moment in American graphic art.
