This 1968 promotional poster for the California Spectrum light show showcases Bob Masse's distinctive fusion of Art Nouveau influence with psychedelic imagery. The composition centers on a fantastical Norse-inspired scene, with a helmeted warrior embracing a female figure above a serpentine creature, while the enormous face and flowing hair of a woman frame the scene. A watchful eye emerges above the figures, adding to the dreamlike visual language associated with psychedelic art and the era's fascination with altered perception.
Advertised as the "World's Largest Light Show," California Spectrum was part of the immersive visual culture that developed alongside psychedelic rock during the late 1960s. Light shows transformed concerts and performance spaces through projected color, film, liquid imagery, and other visual effects, turning the surrounding environment into an integral part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop for the performers.
This example is particularly interesting for its surviving handwritten venue information. The poster appears to have been produced with a blank lower panel specifically so individual promoters could customize it for local engagements. Here, the space was filled in by hand to advertise an appearance at the Electric Theatre on June 20, preserving evidence of the poster's original working life as an advertisement rather than simply a decorative print. The handwritten lettering, pricing, and local promotional information make this particular example a unique record of how touring psychedelic productions were marketed from venue to venue.
Rendered primarily in orange-red, black, and cream, the poster demonstrates the psychedelic generation's renewed interest in the flowing lines and elaborate figuration of late nineteenth-century Art Nouveau while transforming those influences into something distinctly of the 1960s. More than half a century later, the handwritten additions give this surviving example an especially tangible connection to the period, documenting not only the art of the psychedelic light show but the practical network of local venues and promoters that brought counterculture entertainment to audiences across America.

Some items which were previously folded or not suitable for rolling will be sent in a flat pack. Quite simply, if you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, simply contact us within 14 days of receipt and we'll gladly accept your return, providing the item is in the same condition as it was sent.
Returns
Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. It must also be sent in the original packaging.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable). Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error. Any item that is returned more than 14 days after delivery may also be ineligible.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. Your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within two business days. Original shipping costs are not refundable.
