Wissembourg Soldier

A soldier, holstering his gun with one arm, and enjoying a nice sip of age-old whisky with the other! Another spectacular Wissembourg stone lithograph panel, printed by the C. Burckardt company in Weissenburg, France during the 1880s.

This vintage gem is part of a series of panel posters featuring whimsical images of animals, random Alsatian characters, and comical caricatures all designed in a stunning Art Nouveau style. Oh and did we mention, they are extremely rare and collectible?

Condition: Good. Three panels joined together. Age toning in accordance with posters age. Mild toning along original fold lines. along original fold lines. Light staining in upper right panel and minor background staining on top and bottom panel. Conservation mounted on linen. Please use zoom feature to get a better understanding of posters overall condition.
