The Bauhaus was a German school that ran for just fourteen years, from 1919 to 1933, but its approach to design still shapes how we think about typography, layout, and the relationship between art and industry. Its teachers and students treated the printed page as a design problem, not a decoration exercise, which produced some of the most disciplined and visually direct work of the 20th century.
