Cycling became a mass phenomenon in the 1890s, and advertisers responded immediately. Bicycle manufacturers across France, Belgium, and Italy poured money into lithographed campaigns, producing some of the most energetic commercial art of the Belle Époque. The subject never really left the poster tradition, returning with each era's racing culture and Tour de France fever. The pieces shown here are period originals from that long run.
