Grand Prix racing generated some of the most kinetic commercial art of the 20th century. Circuits like Monaco and Le Mans became recurring subjects for illustrators who had to capture speed and danger in a single static image, usually working in lithography before photography took over event promotion. The result was a body of work where composition and color had to do what a camera could not. The pieces shown here are period originals from that tradition.
