Il Giornaletto was an Italian children's weekly that ran from the early 1900s, built around illustrated covers and serialized stories at a time when print illustration for young readers was taken seriously as an art form. The magazine gave artists room to work with bold color and character-driven imagery, and Pinocchio was a natural subject given the story's Italian roots.
