Surrealism

Surrealism began as a literary movement in 1920s Paris before it reshaped commercial art in ways that are still visible today. The logic was simple: dreamlike imagery stopped people cold, which made it useful for advertising, magazine covers, and exhibition work. Salvador Dalí crossed most freely between fine art and commerce, lending the movement's visual language to campaigns and publications that reached mass audiences.
