Electronics and communications gave commercial artists a century of subjects to work with: the telephone, the radio, the television, each arriving as a novelty and quickly becoming something every household wanted. French designers were especially active in this space through the mid-20th century, producing radio and television advertising that treated the technology as glamorous rather than merely useful. Jules Chéret was doing something similar as early as the 1890s, when the telephone itself was still a curiosity. The period originals here span that full arc.
