Japan's commercial graphic tradition draws on centuries of woodblock printing, and that craft sensibility never fully left when lithography and offset printing arrived in the 20th century. The interwar decades were especially productive, with travel posters and tourism campaigns blending Western Art Deco geometry with distinctly Japanese compositional instincts.
