Oversize (43"+)

Oversize posters were built for distance. They were meant to stop someone crossing a street or passing a kiosk, which is why the best commercial artists of the 20th century treated large-format work as a distinct discipline: fewer elements, bolder color, a single idea that reads in under a second. Leonetto Cappiello, one of the most influential figures in that tradition, made his reputation almost entirely at this scale. The period originals here span that full range of ambition.
