Coffee and tea were among the first products to receive serious graphic treatment in commercial advertising, partly because they were luxury imports being sold to mass markets. European designers of the 1920s and 1930s took particular interest in the category; Ludwig Hohlwein, one of Germany's most celebrated poster artists, produced some of his most refined work for tea and coffee brands.
