Gastrosan (1911)

$550.00

This gorgeous Japanese lithograph advertising Gastrosan is brought to you by no other than Hiromitsu Nakazawa. Gastrosan was a highly-popular product in the early 1900s used to fight abdominal cramps.

Nakazawa was heavily influential in the design world during his lifetime (1873-1964). Not only was he an incredible poster artist, but also a painter, graphic artist, oil painter and illustrator! Not to mention, he was one of the very first Moku Hanga artists, aka fine art produced on woodcuts. Talk about an overachiever!

In this graphic we see a cheerful magician sporting a top hat and dancing on a grey tin of Gastrosan. This jolly john is smiling while holding up a feather to bold white text and illuminated by a red backdrop. If we get anything from this joyous graphic, its that Gastrosan will have you magically feeling light as a feather! What a fun poster. Not to mention, this authentic lithograph was produced in 1911— making it over a 110 years old! Wow. This bold pop of red is sure to steal the show in your home.
