La Maison du Porte-Plume

We are thrilled to add this extremely rare and highly coveted poster into our collection! Feast your eyes on "La Maison du Porte-Plume", a 1928 advertising marvel crafted by the illustrious Jean D'Ylen. Beyond its extreme rarity, this authentic stone-lithograph stands as a cornerstone in the evolution of graphic design, with D'Ylen's finesse of fusing whimsy with sophistication on full display.

In an effort to highlight its dedication to quality, La Maison du Porte-Plume, a charming boutique in Brussels, commissioned D’Ylen to produce a series of innovative posters.

Jean D'Ylen, a protégé of the legendary Leonetto Cappiello, quickly gained recognition for his vibrant, animated designs. His work, celebrated for its dynamic and personified subjects, earned him accolades at the Salon de la Publicité, positioning him as a peer of Jules Chéret, otherwise known as “the father of the modern poster."

At the forefront of D'Ylen's exceptional design is a jubilant jester, arm-in-arm with an array of luxury fountain pens. Dressed in a dazzling array of yellow and tangerine, his ensemble is punctuated by golden footwear, all against a backdrop of sophisticated cream. This captivating image does more than draw the eye; it expertly marries whimsy with the art of fine writing, underscoring La Maison du Porte-Plume's lasting legacy.

Consider yourself lucky if you take home this masterpiece!
